ALEC Ready to Support Power Restoration Efforts ahead of Winter Storm Fern

The Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives (ALEC) is actively monitoring Winter Storm Fern as it moves across the region and stands ready to assist with any power restoration efforts that may occur.

ALEC has been in close contact with national mutual-aid partners and its statewide electric cooperative network to ensure crews, equipment, and resources are positioned and available if needed. In addition to supporting Louisiana’s electric cooperatives, ALEC is prepared to assist neighboring states should conditions require additional resources.

“This is a large winter system impacting most of the United States,” said ALEC Interim CEO Aarron Graham. “Our priority is ensuring crews are ready, resources are in place, and restoration efforts can begin as safely and efficiently as possible.”

In the event of a power outage, the public is reminded to stay away from any downed power lines. Never approach or attempt to move a downed line. Instead, contact your local electric utility company immediately so trained crews can respond safely.
