Winter Storm Enzo has moved into the southern region of Louisiana bringing an unprecedented amount of snow to the area. This is the first time that Louisiana has experienced snowfall of this magnitude, with reported 8-10 inches of snow in some areas. The last significant snowfall in Louisiana occurred nearly 130 years ago, when 12.5 inches were recorded.
While isolated power outages remain minor, crews are on standby to begin restoration efforts as soon as it is safe to do so, and roadways are passable.
As the snow begins to melt, please remain cautious of potential hazards, including downed powerlines that may have been hidden under snow. We encourage you to stay off the roads to prevent accidents that may affect power lines. If you encounter downed lines, do not approach them and contact your utility provider immediately.
