Hurricane Francine made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane on September 11 around 5 p.m. resulting in widespread damage and leaving many consumer-members without power. As of Thursday morning, South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association (SLECA) is experiencing a complete system outage, affecting 16,442 members, Washington-St. Tammany Electric Cooperative is reporting roughly 23,759 outages, and DEMCO is experiencing outages in all seven parishes affecting 37,420 members.
As our members begin their damage assessments, mutual aid assistance is rolling in from Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma as well as our sister cooperatives around the state.
