Louisiana braces for Tropical Storm Francine

As Tropical Storm Francine approaches the Louisiana coast, the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives and its members are actively monitoring and preparing for impact.

We currently have additional crews, materials and equipment on standby to assist restoration efforts. Our member cooperatives will assess damage and begin restoration once it is safe to do so.
Consumer members are encouraged to plan accordingly by stocking up on non-perishable food, water, medication, and fuel for generators. Now is the time to secure all loose items around your home and review generator safety tips.
When using a generator, never connect generators directly to household wiring without first installing a transfer switch. This prevents backfeeding which could electrocute utility workers making repairs.

The Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives is a non-profit organization that represents the electric distribution cooperatives operating in Louisiana. The Louisiana Electric Cooperatives serve roughly 1 million citizens in 50 parishes. Our mutual aid network consisting of 26 states working closely with their statewide associations provides an abundant supply of personnel and equipment when it is needed the most for storm recovery.
