ALEC Federal Credit Union Hiring Manager Position

MANAGER POSITION PROFILE

General Summary:  Guide and manage the Credit Union operations to provide quality service to members including lending, investments, new accounts, compliance, marketing, bookkeeping, and solving problems within established policies and guidelines. 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all operational functions including lending, investments, compliance, financial records, and maintenance of audit standards.
  • Manage and train qualified employee(s) to assist in operations of the credit union.
  • Manage all Investments for the credit union. This includes managing the CDs through QwickRate and the brokered CDs through Catalyst Corporate Credit Union.
  • Perform a wide range of transactional duties including the closing of books at month end, quarter end, and year end. This includes preparation of the financial statements and reconciling bank statements and all ACHs through Catalyst Corporate Credit Union. This also includes processing fixed assets, prepaid, and accruals for monthly depreciation and amortization.
  • Investigate teller losses, voided checks, ACH returns, and/or any other discrepancy issues that may occur and institute corrective action.
  • Monitor trial balance so that the transaction report reconciles to the general ledger and that cash suspense accounts have no ending balance.
  • Prepare and submit the NCUA Call Report quarterly.
  • Manage the lending functions for the Credit Union: Oversee processing and closing of all loans including personal, auto, and share-secured loans.
  • Keep abreast of changes with offering loan specials
  • Maintain and order all checks, receipts, envelopes, and all office supplies as needed.
  • Plan, recommend, develop, and implement policies and procedures to advance the objectives and decisions of the board of directors.
  • Manage ongoing adherence to all credit union policies and updating policies as required to remain in compliance.
  • Ensure that appropriate safeguard measures are implemented for all funds, physical assets, and other property; lead appropriate corrective responses to security concerns and emergency situations.
  • Establish and administer the credit union’s budget (yearly expected expenditures).
  • Facilitate and assist with internal and/or external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and best practices including completion and maintenance of documentation and records retention.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in banking.
  • Develop and maintain personal relationships with credit union members to the greatest degree possible.
  • Maintain active communication dialogue with the board of directors and perform other duties as requested by the board of directors.
  • Facilitate and plan monthly board meetings and quarterly supervisory committee checks.
  • Visit member cooperatives to market the credit union and recruit new members

(Suggested) Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of accounting and GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles)
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for communicating with the membership and projecting a positive image as a representative of the Credit Union.
  • Work will require knowledge of all Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Fiserv Cusa Core Platform is a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to sit while performing job duties.
  • Repeating motions which may include the wrist, hand and/or fingers.
  • May be required to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items.
  • Visually recognize, reconcile, and verify numerical details for accuracy.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate
  • This job may require some travel to member co-ops
