Claiborne Electric Cooperative serves approximately 24,000 retail electric meters spread across all or parts of eight parishes in north central Louisiana. The system stretches over 3,600 miles of distribution line covering rural agricultural areas and small towns. Claiborne is one of five owners of the 1803 Electric Cooperative, a newly formed G&T cooperative that will soon deliver power to its member systems across Louisiana. Oil production and agriculture represent the primary load and growth in Claiborne’s service territory. It also delivers power to several large commercial and industrial loads. Its mission statement sums up its approach to business: “Claiborne Electric Cooperative is a member-owned, not-for-profit, service organization that exists for one reason and one reason only…to meet the needs of our members.”
The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate a proven track record of progressively responsible management. A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in the electric utility industry is required. Cooperative experience is preferred. A thorough understanding of and adherence to the Seven Cooperative Principles is necessary. Knowledge is vital in the areas of electric distribution operations, engineering, finance, strategic planning, RUS accounting, rate making, safety, and member relations. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and inter-personal skills along with the ability to promote teamwork. A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field is mandatory.
