COMMUNICATIONS AND DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST OPENING
JOB TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS AND DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST
POSITION LOCATION: ALEC Office, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
OBJECTIVE: Serves ALEC members, employees, media and the public by creating content and providing information regarding member cooperatives.
EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field is required. Applicants must have demonstrated experience and knowledge in writing, graphic design, and photography/videography. Experience with Associated Press rules and style, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
The ability to communicate effectively with members, co-workers, the public, and the Board of Directors is important. Applicants must have the capability to make and receive telephone calls and use electronic communications in a polite, professional manner. An aptitude for social and community engagement is important, along with the competence to complete tasks with excellence and accept constructive redirection. Applicants should desire continual training and growth.
In addition to content creation and communications, applicant will be required to provide administrative support including but not limited to website maintenance, scheduling/event planning, data entry, and routine administrative duties. Applicant must be able and willing to travel including in state travel and out of state travel. Applicant must be willing to work and stay in adverse conditions including storm damaged locations.
All applicants interviewed will be asked to submit a portfolio of work during the interview. The portfolio should contain three to five samples of writing and three to five samples of graphic design. Writing samples may consist of press releases, news stories, features, etc. Graphic design samples may consist of advertising campaigns, marketing materials, newsletter/magazine layouts, etc. Photography may also be included.
After an offer of employment has been made, a physical is required which may include both drug and alcohol testing.
