Louisiana Cooperatives Prepare for COVID-19

As reports of the coronavirus continue, Louisiana electric cooperatives are monitoring the threat and discussing plans to help protect you and maintain our critical business operations.

As is the case with the flu and many other illnesses, the most effective way we can lower the risk of the coronavirus for our families and in the workplace is to prevent the spread of germs. If you are not already doing so, please take these simple steps to help prevent the spread of illness:

Wash your hands for 20 seconds and clean your workspace often.  This includes offices, desks and trucks. We will provide additional supplies of hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray and wipes for employees, offices and common areas.

Stay home if you are sick. For the benefit of you and the employees of our Louisiana electric cooperatives, please stay home if you have symptoms of the coronavirus. Symptoms typically begin with a fever and then move to a dry cough followed by shortness of breath. You should be fever-free for 24-hours without the use of medication before returning to work.

For more information about coronavirus and preventing the spread of germs, visit CDC at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html.

The CDC states that the risk for individual Americans is low. If the coronavirus does emerge in our area, we are preparing for how we maintain our operations to best serve our members, especially if there are school closures or other significant changes in our communities.

Thank you for taking these steps to keep yourself and coworkers healthy. We will keep you updated on significant changes in this situation as they occur.
